jstncwlcx
Is there a place to request a workflow, when you don't know how to make them yourself? It isn't a suggestion exactly, but wondering if anyone has created something like this...just to know it is possible. I want to create a workflow that will toggle the pause syncing and resume syncing function of Dropbox, that currently resides in the menubar. Thanks for any insight! Link to comment

You asked in the right place. 49 minutes ago, jstncwlcx said: I want to create a workflow that will toggle the pause syncing and resume syncing function of Dropbox, that currently resides in the menubar. Different question, but the bulk of my reply still applies. This either requires GUI scripting (i.e. faking key presses) or for Dropbox itself to allow this to be done programatically (seems like they don’t). The simplest solution would be to just have a workflow to quit Dropbox (there is an Automation Task to macOS → Quit Apps), then you open it again when you want to resume syncing. Link to comment
jstncwlcx
Thanks for your help! I am aware of the quit apps task, I use it for apps all the time. When I trigger it the Dropbox app isn't listed. Maybe because it is something that runs in the background? My knowledge is so limited, but I think that is a thing. Ha! Link to comment
vitor
No, I mean the Automation Task (see the link) which is a workflow object. In that you write (once) the name of the app to quit and then it does it every time. When opening the Workflows pane in preferences, pick the third option (Getting Started Guide) for an overview on how to build a workflow. Link to comment

jstncwlcx
I'm hoping someone who knows what they're doing will dip back into this thread.... I asked this question on reddit, and someone came up with this workflow. Since I don't really know what I'm doing, I'm afraid to run it without asking someone more knowledgable than myself. Does this workflow look safe to run? Link to comment
vitor
Just checked the code and in its current state it is perfectly safe. It just tries to find Dropbox in your menubar then simulate the clicks to pause or resume. Link to comment
