Move the selection to another operation

Hi all,
I'd like to create a workflow that operates on the currently selected text, either directly through a transformation or by passing the selection to another operation.

That's easy: you're looking at something like a Universal Action, limited to text.

But that's not quite so clear. Please explain exactly what it is you wish to do with the text. Transformations can be handled by something like Alfred's Transform Utility  but please give an example of "another operation” you're considering.
