Hi,

I've configured Alfred to search for my Safari bookmarks; however, none are ever shown.  I don't recall this ever working for me.  Could this be a permissions or privacy/security issue?  Running "repair disk permissions" in Disk Utility.app does nothing.

Here's a screenshot of my preferences.

Here's a movie of the behavior.

Other relevant data:

  • MacOS X 10.10.3
  • Alfred v2.7 (385)

thanks,

Chris

This checkbox specifically relates to Safari bookmarks and works using OS X's metadata. If you have already tried rebuilding the OS X Metadata (from the shortcut in Alfred's Advanced preferences), then perhaps try quitting Safari and removing this folder in your home folder:

~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari

When you restart Safari, this folder will be recreated and after a few seconds (or up to a minute), the bookmarks metadata should be available again and you'll be able to search bookmarks in Alfred (and Spotlight).

Cheers,

Andrew

Hello,

I face the same problem. I tried already all the tips from here: https://www.alfredapp.com/help/troubleshooting/safari-bookmarks/

Is it related to Spotlight ? Because I disabled the spotlight server ( since I use Alfred in place of Spotlight ).

Hi there,

You'll need to keep Spotlight's index enabled; It's not only the metadata index used by Alfred to search your Mac, but also an intrinsic part of OS X's operations used by numerous other apps and services on your Mac.

Once you've re-enabled Spotlight and given it enough time to rebuild its index, you should once again see your bookmarks.

To use Alfred instead of Spotlight, simply disable the hotkey for Spotlight in your System Preferences :)

Cheers,

Vero

Hello,

Thank you for your help. Indeed I activated again the spotlight index and it works.

For people who got the same problem:

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

Have a nice day,
