Alfred doesn't work on start up

When I turn on my computer, Alfred launches, and I see its icon at the top of the screen. It seems to be working, I can change preferences and everything. But my keyboard shortcut (Cmd + Space) doesn't work until I quit Alfred and restart it. Then Alfred woks just fine.

This problem only started after I updated Alfred. I have run through all the steps of making sure Cmd + Space isn't being reserved by Spotlight or input sources. 

Anyone have any ideas?

Could you update to Alfred 2.8 which addresses a few issues relating to focusing / visibility... let me know how you get on
